Welcome to the 49th Concert Season of Stamford Young Artists Philharmonic under founder Salvatore Princiotti’s loving and nurturing guidance! That he has set the tone for this marvelous, non-competitive organization is evident in its growth over the years. SYAP continues to be a beehive of activity – teaching and nurturing talented young musicians.
This season we welcome new Young People’s Symphony conductor, Lila Ainsworth, who brings her outstanding qualifications and experience to join the SYAP family including Sal Princiotti (Young Artists Philharmonic), Barbara DiFranco (Young String Ensemble), Sharon Levin (Young Artists & Young People's Flute Choirs) and myself (Young Artists & Young People's Jazz Ensembles).
In addition to the flurry of activity from September through May, we are gearing up for Young Artists Summer Jazz Workshop’09, which will celebrate its 17th season of world-class jazz instruction which has attracted students from all over CT (in addition to NY, NJ, FL and KY!).
We continue to be delighted by the students hard at work in our Strings Outreach Program at Waterside School led by Rosemary Kovacs assisted by Marja Maunula, and our long association with Stamford Town Center, facilitating concerts at Center Court. Most exciting is that we have begun planning our Gala 50th Anniversary Reunion Concert for May of next season; stay tuned for details as they unfold!
