Waterside School Outreach Strings Program

SYAP sponsors an outreach strings program at Waterside School, an independent school in Stamford that serves the children of the working poor. Violin, viola and cello instruction is provided in an after-school program begun in the fall of 2005.

Stamford Town Center

A long-term collaboration with Stamford Town Center is represented by SYAP's Young Artists Philharmonic Concert Series, presented weekly in Center Court.  Under the auspices of SYAP,  area soloists, chamber music groups, jazz ensembles, school choirs, orchestras and bands provide countless hours of high-quality entertainment to the community.  These talented area musicians benefit from the opportunity to perform in this high-profile venue.
In 2009, SYAP, in conjunction with Stamford Town Center, inaugurated Jazz on the Plaza, featuring both professional jazz artists and student jazz ensembles in an 8 week outdoor concert series adjacent to 'Restaurant Row'.

Stamford Symphony

SYAP and the Stamford Symphony enjoy a unique reciprocal relationship: SYAP students attend Stamford Symphony concerts and Maestro Eckart Preu conducts Master Classes with SYAP, an experience from which the entire membership benefits.  Selected students have performed with the Stamford Symphony for special family concerts.

Community At Large

All SYAP Subscription Series concerts are free to all students and music teachers.

Suggestions

All suggestions for additional ways in which the SYAP family can forge partnerships with the community and school groups to increase appreciation of music while developing our greatest resource "our youth" are welcome.  Please contact Executive Director Joyce DiCamillo, at 203-532-1278.
